Committee Descriptions

  • PCRD is comprised of four expert Councils, seven Task Force Councils and one Advisory.
  • Expert Councils are organized to study and review items to be deliberated by PCRD in advance. Members of the Expert Councils are recommended by the PCRD Chairman among experts with a wealth of academic knowledge and experience in the field of regional development. Members serve one-year terms. (Article 24 of the Enforcement Ordinance on the Special Act on Balanced National Development)
  • With the intent to effectively promote special projects involving regional development, task force councils are organized and operated on a temporary basis. (PCRD rules of operation)
  • Advisory Council members are consulted on items related to PCRD tasks, and recommended by the PCRD Chairman among those with a wealth of expertise and experience in the field of regional development. Members serve one-year terms. (Article 25 of the Enforcement Ordinance on the Special Act on Balanced National Development)
  • Advisory Body for Project Evaluations is organized for annual evaluation on outcomes of the implementation plans for each sector and for Economic Regions. In order to support the evaluation, an organization specialized in evaluation is designated and operated. (Article 9 of the Enforcement Ordinance on the Special Act on Balanced National Development)
  • When necessary, it is permitted to have outside research institutes carry out research projects pursuant to Article 30 of the Enforcement Ordinance on the Special Act on Balanced National Development. Likewise, it is permitted to have the Korea Institute for Industrial Economics and Trade organize and operate the Center for Regional Development Research pursuant to Article 31 of the Enforcement Ordinance on the Special Act on Balanced National Development.
  • PCRD Executive Office is established to support PCRD tasks pursuant to Article 25 of the Special Act on Balanced National Development. In order to support PCRD Executive Office and the Economic Region Development Committees, the Regional Development Support Office is established pursuant to Article 25 of the Enforcement Ordinance on the Special Act on Balanced National Development.
  • PCRD Executive Office , comprised of three bureaus and one team, operates under the umbrella of PCRD, and the Regional Development Support Office is currently established under the Ministry of Knowledge Economy.
