I'd like to express my heartfelt welcome to you for visiting the homepage of PCRD!

PCRD is a presidential committee established to effectively promote regional development of Korea. PCRD plays a key role for the nation's regional development, carrying out diverse tasks including coordination and deliberation on regional policies by different agencies and departments of the government, while reflecting on regional policies a variety of valuable opinions from each region and from people in every walk of life.

Global advanced countries are promoting collaborations beyond administrative districts and national borders aiming at regional competitiveness enhancement, while pushing ahead with region-specific strategies for regional development under the principle of autonomy and responsibility. Keeping abreast with those nations, Korea has initiated new policies for regional development, swimming with the irreversable tide of globalization, devolution and development unit enlargement. The new policies for regional development are expected to greatly contribute to the co-existence and co-prosperity of every region across the nation, and to the advancement of Korea towards the world.

Each region of Korea has a development potential of its own. Believing that regional competitiveness equals national competitiveness, PCRD is endeavoring to come up with substantial and creative alternatives to regional development strategies, which go beyond discourses or slogans. Now regions are the main players of Korea. Regional competitiveness is maximized when regions take the lead and when the central government provides support for that. PCRD puts its foremost priority on regional development. Paying close attention to the voice of the regions, PCRD dedicates all its efforts to regional development, and will work in close collaboration with all the regions across the nation.
